Buchanan Taxi — A Mile and a Third of Village with a Hall of Its Own
Buchanan is an incorporated village of roughly 2,300 people in the north-western corner of the Town of Cortlandt, with its own board of trustees and a village hall at 236 Tate Avenue. Residential ground and very little else. No platform stands inside the village boundary, no bus terminal, no rank of waiting cars. Anything that involves leaving — a train, an appointment, a terminal — begins with somebody driving, and that first-and-last leg is most of what a Buchanan taxi is asked to do.
